Construction Details
North Down Borough Council have begun construction of Northern Ireland’s first Olympic sized swimming pool.
The project represents an investment of £38m in new leisure facilities, this includes a grant of up to £15m for the pool from Sport Northern Ireland.
The new facility will be built as part of a state-of-the-art leisure complex at Valentine Playing Fields.
Farrans Construction Limited is the main contractor for the building project.
The build will take 22 months to complete with the new facility opening in the Summer of 2012.
