time and moneyAs part of the Elite Facilities Programme, North Down Borough Council have established monitoring and evaluation frameworks and associated systems to capture quantitative data, in the form of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Regular monitoring enables the identification of the need for and nature of, any adjustments and improvements to ensure maximum progress towards a project’s aims and objectives.

Advantages of compiling Key Performance Indicators for North Down Borough Council can be summarised as:

  • Save time;
  • Save money;
  • Help measure sport participation benefits;
  • Inform your policies and operational plans to improve their effectiveness;
  • Compare your results with others on the same basis; and
  • Help Sport Northern Ireland build a Northern Ireland progress picture.

Measuring sport participation will assist North Down Borough Council in structuring various activities for participants at the facility. The pool will be utilised by the general public for leisure and recreational swimming, and North Down Borough Council plan to use the facility to provide swimming lessons, as well as a wide range of water based exercise programmes to include specific activities for those with disabilities, 60+ age group, pregnant mothers groups, relaxation classes, weight reducing classes and high intensity fitness sessions.
