Omagh and Mossley rise to Victory in NI Youth Games

The Sport Northern Ireland Hockey Youth Games recently took place at Mossley Hockey Club's state of the art facilities in Newtownabbey. The Youth Games provide the competitive conclusion to the six Regional Development Squads for boy's hockey. Twelve teams representing the six Regional Development Squads of Omagh, Mossley, Banbridge, Lisburn, Belfast and North Down competed in two groups. One group competed for the Cup and the other for the Plate.

The Omagh squad won a highly competitive Cup final beating Banbridge with a solitary goal scored by Matthew Lecky. With Mossley winning an exciting Plate final in front of a large local support.

The standard of hockey played by all was of a very high level and provided an enjoyable day for the large spectating crowd of parents and supporters.

Thanks are due to all the players, coaches, umpires, St. John Ambulance and Mossley Hockey Club and its staff, whose efforts made this an outstanding tournament.
