Moving up to a new floor at Antrim Forum

Mayor of Antrim, Cllr Oran Keenan was joined last Thursday (21 May) by Eamonn McCartan, Chief Executive of Sport Northern Ireland, to officially launch Antrim Forum’s brand new sports hall floor

Councillor Keenan comments, “Antrim Borough Council is delighted to have received 100% funding from Sport Northern Ireland. The new wooden sprung floor and portable roll out international competition standard basketball floor are great assets for Northern Ireland’s largest multi-sport activity centre.”

“This funding is part of a £3.6 million investment from the Places for Sport: Surfaces Programme, and demonstrates our commitment to improving and creating new facilities in order to encourage people of all ages and abilities to take part in regular sport and physical activity,” says Eamonn McCartan.

Norman Hannan, Assistant Manager at Antrim Forum explains, “This new engineered wooden elastic floor will greatly benefit all users as it will increase shock absorption which helps to minimise the chance of spinal, ankle or leg injury. It will also enable the Forum to host international basketball events but most importantly, it will provide great opportunities for the further development of sport in our community.”
