Seminar Series - Thursday 26 February
Sport Northern Ireland (SNI) and the University of Ulster School of Sports studies are pleased to bring you the second in their series of sports seminars on Thursday 26 February at the University of Ulster Jordanstown Campus.
Professor Peter Alegi of Michigan State University will lead a seminar onthe topic of "The Global Branding of an African Nation: Challeges and possibilities for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa".
Peter Alegi teaches courses in South African and African history and comparative history of sport. He is a leading academic on football in South Africa and is author of “Laduma! Soccer, Politics, and Society in South Africa”.
Currently, Alegi is working on a book manuscript entitled “African Soccerscapes: Sport, Race, Nation, and Capitalism” and a co-edited collection on “South Africa and the Global Game”.
