Help Shape the future of Coaching in Ireland - update
Strategy for the Development of Coaching in Ireland –
Consultation Sessions – Tuesday 26 February 2008
Following Sport NI’s endorsement of the UK Coaching Framework, Sport NI is also now working with the National Coaching and Training Centre (NCTC) and the Irish Sports Council to develop a strategy for the development of coaching in Ireland. This dual approach reflects the UK and All-Ireland nature of sports structures in Northern Ireland.
Morgan Buckley of Atlantic Sports Management and Training is leading this work, which will also provide a corporate strategy for the NCTC as it evolves into Coaching Ireland.
In order to elicit the views of athletes, coaches, administrators and other key partners with an interest and role to play in coaching, on the way forward for coaching on the Island of Ireland, two consultation events have been planned for Tuesday 26 February 2008 in the Lagan Valley Leisureplex in Lisburn. The two sessions are scheduled as follows:
1.30pm to 4.30pm and
7.00pm to 9.30pm.
The sessions will be similar in format and interested parties will only be expected to attend one of the sessions.
If planning to attend, please confirm which session to Andrea McKittrick at 028 9038 3831 or by email at andreamckittrick@sportni.net by Friday 22 February 2008.
Help Shape the future of Coaching in Ireland
The National Coaching and Training Centre (NCTC) in partnership with Sport NI and the Irish Sports Council (ISC) have commissioned Atlantic Sports Management and Training (ASMT) to facilitate the development of a Coaching Strategy for Ireland and a Strategic Plan for NCTC/Coaching Ireland.
A Strategic Advisory Committee was put in place in September 2007. To date ASMT have held a number of consultation meetings with various stakeholders and are currently collating all feedback to develop draft proposals, a vision policy and governance recommendations.

As part of the consultation process ASMT is trying to get feedback from as many stakeholders as possible. To achieve this an on line questionnaire for coaches and player/athletes has been developed – http://www.nctc.ul.ie/coaching_strategy.htm
This is your opportunity to shape the future of Irish coaching. The questionnaire will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. To complete the questionnaire click on the following link:
