The Red Guide is an advisory document for use by competent persons at designated sports grounds.
When applying the guidance and recommendations of the Red Guide the principal objective is to secure reasonable safety at the sports ground when it is in use for a specified activity.
The Red Guide seeks to encourage the meeting of achievable standards for new and existing construction.
Deviations from the Red Guide are only acceptable when considered necessary and reasonable.
Unless it can be demonstrated that alternative measures to be taken are able to achieve an equal or a greater degree of safety than those recommended in the guide, a lower capacity permitted will be required.
