Jenna Belgian National Champion

Jenna McCorkell four times British senior champion took the gold medal in the Belgian national championships on Saturday 24th November 2007.

In a personal best score the Coleraine woman skated to the gold medal, the first time for a British woman in an international!

Speaking on Jenna’s success, Professor Eric Saunders OBE Chairman of Sport Northern Ireland commented, “Sport northern Ireland is delighted to fund talented young athletes like Jenna through our lottery funded athlete support programme. I would like to congratulate her on this tremendous result; she is an inspiration and a role model to other young people”.

A spokesperson from AKR promotions commented:
“Jenna has been performing consistently well this season and getting better each outing!  This is her second senior international medal this season and to be crowned Belgian national champion as well as British champion in the same year is fantastic and so deserved.'

This is the last competition prior to the British championships in January when McCorkell will be aiming for a record fifth championship.
