Sport NI has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer and a new Director of Sport. These new strategic roles are part of the transformation programme within Sport NI.

As Chief Operating Officer, Adrian Doherty is a long-standing senior official in the NI civil service with extensive experience in Finance and Governance.  Adrian joined Sport NI on secondment two years ago from the Department of Justice. Within Sport NI Adrian has successfully advanced the organisation’s operations, making huge strides in governance compliance, quality standards and digital transformation.

As Director of Sport, Michael Boyd has been a senior member of the IFA Team for over twenty years and has led ground-breaking initiatives in youth football, the women’s game and on issues of equality and inclusion. Michael brings a wealth of experience in grassroots and performance sport and deep insight to the needs of sports governing bodies.
