Representatives from each of the projects joined Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, Edwin Poots at the House of Sport on 14 June, Belfast, to receive their letters of offer from Sport Northern Ireland.

Sports Minister Edwin Poots said: “These projects have been developed by the community for the community and will be owned and managed by the community”.

“They will provide opportunities for participation from grass roots to elite sports development.  Their sports development plans are ambitious, but realistic, and this has only been made possible through the partnerships the applicants have put in place and evidenced.

“These partnerships include not just the local authorities, without whose support these projects would not have succeeded, but also the local schools and further and higher education colleges, local sports clubs, governing bodies of sport and the men's and women's forums within each community.

“The projects each cross many agendas such as health and education, as well as addressing social need. It is a very exciting time for these communities and I wish them well with their projects.”
