Southern Board wins at NI Youth Games

The Sport Northern Hockey Youth Games for girls were recently held in glorious weather at the impressive facilities of Lisnagarvey Hockey Club, Hillsborough.

For the participants, the Games represented the competitive culmination of the Regional Development Squad programme, which they had being attending from September 2007.

Over 160 talented young players from all parts of Ulster attended, representing eight Regional Development squads, which operate within the Education and Library Boards areas.

After a highly competitive and exciting series of matches, watched by large crowds, the team representing the Southern Board overcame the South East to retain their title by the narrowest of margins.

The standard of play through the tournament was of an exceptionally high standard that bears testimony to the dedication and application of all the players and coaches.
