The second meeting of the Northern Ireland Physical Literacy Forum has taken place including a practical session at Fort Hill Integrated Primary School.

Governing bodies and Local Councils gathered with Sport NI staff to learn more about developing physical literacy in the person and in their organisations.

In attendance was representatives of Athletics NI, Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Council, Causeway Coast & Glen Borough Council, CORE Kids, Cycling Ireland, Dublin City University, IABA, Irish FA, Triathlon Ireland, Ulster Badminton, Ulster GAA and Ulster Rugby.

P6 pupils at Fort Hill took part in a multi skills session which focused on catching with those in attendance seeing the principles of Physical Literacy in action and learning how best to coach primary school aged children.

The meeting also included a session at Lagan Valley Island in Lisburn where the focus switched to how to implement Physical Literacy into your organisation.

Attendees heard from Denise Murphy of Triathlon Ireland on how they have included Physical Literacy into their Tri Heroes programme and Coaching Pathways.

The group were also joined online by Keira Edwards and Suzy Drane of Wales Netball who spoke on the steps they have made to develop and pilot a Physical Literacy coaching module and embed Physical Literacy into the Wales Netball Strategy.
