Sport NI wishes to congratulate those within our sporting community who have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
Among the recipients is Erroll Lutton, honoured for his services to Hockey. Erroll won the Sport NI SportMaker Club Performance Coach of the Year award in 2022 for his incredible contribution to the sport, both on and off the pitch.
Richard Archibald, Interim CEO Sport NI said: “I would like to extend my congratulations to those within our sporting community who have been named in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
“This list recognises many of the unsung heroes of sport: the coaches, volunteers, officials and administrators who play an essential role in making sport happen week in and week out across Northern Ireland. These people help change and shape the lives of our community and are the foundations of our sports. It is fantastic to see their dedication and service recognised and the positive role sport plays in our communities.”
Amongst those receiving honours are:
Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)
Jeremy Adams; for services to disability sport
Beverley Roy Corry; for services to athletics
Patrick Duffy; for services to Special Olympics sports and to young people, particularly those with learning disabilities in the Newry and District Gateway Club
James Huey; for services to education and to rugby in Northern Ireland
Elaine Hunniford; for services to young people and to safeguarding in sport.
Medallists of the Order of the British Empire (BEM)
Brian Adams; for services to young people and sport
Erroll Adrian Lutton; for services to hockey
Robert White; for services to association football and to charity in north Belfast
Mr Gordon Ernest McDowell; For services to sport and to the local community in County Down
These honours reflect the diverse range of achievements and contributions by individuals in Northern Ireland across various sports.
