Sport NI Chief Executive, Antoinette McKeown said:
“Sport NI is disappointed that the Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) has voted against making the meaningful changes required to bring the organisation in line with governance expectations as set out in the recent Governance Review.
“It is vital that these governance issues are addressed and Sport NI will engage with the IABA and Sport Ireland to discuss the outcome of the EGM and the next steps.
“Boxing is one of our highest performing sports and we are committed to safeguarding its legacy and securing its bright future, ensuring that the sport performs to the highest standards, inside and outside the ring.”
