Ambassador – Be Seen, Be Heard, Belong

At just 20 years old, Anna Pim has already made a remarkable impact in the world of sport — not just as a talented hockey player who has captained Ulster and Ireland at U18, but as a passionate advocate for equality, inclusion, and visibility for women and girls in sport.

As an ambassador for Sport NI’s Be Seen, Be Heard, Belong campaign, Anna is using her platform to drive change and empower the next generation of young female athletes.

“Having women leaders on and off the field, that’s going to spark inspiration and empowerment for other leaders.” says Anna.

From an early age, Anna showed a deep commitment to both sport and community.

Her career in hockey has been shaped by her family, she was handed a pink hockey stick for her first birthday and hasn’t looked back since! Her grandmother was a founding member of the hockey club, Pegasus, where Anna still proudly plays.

Sport and saving lives: Anna’s mission with ‘At the Heart of the Game’

Anna’s passion for sport and community safety come together through her initiative, At the Heart of the Game — a business dedicated to raising awareness and confidence around CPR and defibrillator (AED) use.

Anna is on a mission to empower individuals within the sporting community with life-saving skills. Through engaging workshops and practical training, she aims to create a future where every coach, player, parent and supporter knows how to respond effectively in a cardiac emergency.

It’s not just about sport — it’s about saving lives, and Anna is leading that conversation. Find out more: attheheartofthegame.co.uk

Anna won a Sport NI SportMaker Award for this project 2023 and has since turned At the Heart of the Game into a successful business, winning Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Northern Ireland Regional Final of the StartUp Awards 2025

Importance of role models

Anna’s ambassadorship is rooted in the belief that positive role models can inspire women and girls to be involved in sport at all levels.

“Visibility fosters opportunity and inspiration”.

A role model herself, Anna uses her voice to promote equality and push for greater representation of women in sport. She speaks openly about the challenges she has faced and the support and opportunities through sport that have helped her grow, both as an athlete and a young business leader.

She believes that when women have the confidence to step forward and lead, it helps close the gender gap and inspires others to do the same.

As a Be Seen, Be Heard, Belong ambassador, Anna is passionate about highlighting the voices and stories of women and girls in sport and supporting and inspiring women to realise their own potential, on and off the pitch.

“If we can’t celebrate the success of women, how do we actually pave the way for an equitable future?”
