Bat & Chat is an integral part of the week for people with Parkinson’s disease thanks to an initiative by Table Tennis Ulster.

Through our Sports Systems Investment, made possible thanks to National Lottery players, and support from Parkinson’s UK, Bat and Chat takes place at Lisburn Racquets Club every Tuesday from 11-12pm with time afterwards for a chat.

Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world with around 153,000 people living with Parkinson’s in the UK. There is no cure, but Sport has been known to be a great helper to those living with Parkinson’s.

Table Tennis offers the chance to improve of hand-eye coordination, stimulating the brain and aid concentration which can help slow down the progression of the illness.

We visited the group to find out more about the importance of keeping active when diagnosed with Parkinson’s and how the group helps those attending socially.

New groups will be opening across Northern Ireland and if you would like to find out more, please email: ttuparticipation@tabletennisireland.ie.
