Five sporting leads in local sport have attended the 2nd workshop of the 2025-27 Home Nations Coaching Leaders Programme.
The Programme, which is a collaboration between Sport Northern Ireland, sportscotland and Sport Wales, is designed to help the sporting leads ensure that coaching within their respective sports meets the needs of participants and helps to reduce the inequalities which exist in sport.
15 Coaching Leads from across Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales benefited from the facilities and staff at sportscotland’s National Centre at Inverclyde, Largs, coming together to explore the theme of ‘Understanding Learning and Others’.
Working alongside facilitator Kurt Lindley (Be More Learning & Development) and Home Country Sports Council People Development staff, the group were supported to consider and apply participant and coach modelling within their sport, explore what the ideal learning journey could look like and gain further understanding of ASRI, a model for learning design and delivery.
The five leads from NI who attended were Denise Murphy (triathlon), Gary McKeegan (cycling), Callum Grieve (volleyball), Declan Leung (athletics),) and Michelle McMillan (hockey)
The third residential workshop for the programme will be taking place at the Burrendale Hotel, Newcastle, from 3rd – 5th November and will focus on Understanding the System.
