Sport NI Athlete Stories delves into the careers of some of Northern Ireland’s top sportspeople with guests sharing their experiences and insights into performing at the very top of their sports.

Through this new podcast series we hope to support and inspire athletes across all sports.

The debut episode welcomes former Ireland and Ulster rugby international Paddy Wallace who was part of the 2009 Six Nations Grand Slam side.

The episode is titled ‘Sliding Doors’ with Paddy explaining how during his career, there were moments that if they had gone differently, could have changed his future.

Paddy shares numerous stories from across his career including the moment he thought the 61-year wait for the Six Nations might have to continue after giving away a penalty against Wales.

The Ulsterman also shares on imposter syndrome, dealing with social media, injuries and his first contract.

The podcast, hosted by Hugh Campbell, will aim to provide a new episode every two weeks with five to six episodes per season with a break in between.

Upcoming guests include World silver medallist heptathlete Kate O’Connor and Hockey Ireland international Ayeisha McFerran.

Clips from the podcast will also be available on YouTube as educational pieces for athletes.
