Sport NI is investing more money into more sports.

We are pleased to announce a new £100,000 National Lottery funding programme, aimed at Recognised governing bodies of sport who are not currently in receipt of investment through Sport NI.

We want to help governing bodies grow their sport. A programme budget of £100,000 is currently available for sports’ governing bodies to apply for, up to a maximum individual award of £25,000.

‘Sports Systems Investment – New Governing Bodies’ is a funding programme specifically targeting Recognised sports organisations who have not been eligible to apply for funding through the ‘Sports System Investment – Governing Bodies’ element of National Lottery funding.

Richard Archibald, Interim CEO, Sport NI said: “This new programme is part of our £8.1m investment into sport in Northern Ireland. We have increased funding by 58% from last year to help sports grow and thrive.

“As we seek to maximise the Power of Sport to change lives, we are investing more money into more sports. This new strand of investment will support Recognised governing bodies not currently in receipt of Sport NI funding to put stronger systems in place to continue their growth.”

Sport NI’s Sports System Investment programme is made possible thanks to National Lottery players who raise more than £30m for good causes each week.

Applications are now open and will be assessed on a rolling basis as they are received, and we will start assessing submissions and making awards from Monday 18th September.  The closing date for submissions is 8 December 2023 and funded activity must be completed by 31 March 2024.  As this is a rolling programme, budget may be fully allocated before the 8th December.
