Sport NI has welcomed the IRFU’s publication of the independent report into the Irish
Women’s XV missing out on qualification to the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2021.
Chief Executive Antoinette McKeown said, “It is of fundamental importance that all
sportspeople should be valued equally. We welcome the IRFU’s commissioning of the
World Cup Qualifier Independent Review and its commitment to implement the
recommendations in full.
“It is clear that many of the issues examined in the review will be relevant to other sports.
Sport NI will play its part in seeing where those lessons learned can be applied more
widely across the sports sector, ensuring women have the same opportunities to perform
to their best and inspire us all.”
