The Olympic Legacy Fund is now closed for applications. The £1m budget has been allocated to 37 projects. 

 

Introduction

The Olympic Legacy Fund is a £1million pound investment programme, delivered by Sport NI in partnership with Crowdfunder UK. The fund aims to improve the quality of offering at club/community sports facilities, encouraging people to engage in sport and physical activity. Supported projects will leave a lasting community legacy from the success of Northern Ireland athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympic/Paralympic Games.

To be eligible to apply you must be one of the following organisations:

  • constituted sports club which is affiliated to a governing body of sport which is recognised by Sport NI OR Sport Ireland.

o   Recognised Sport NI Governing Bodies

o   Recognised Sport Ireland Governing Bodies

  • A community/voluntary sector organisation that delivers or enables sport and/or physical activity as your primary activity. Sports and activities must be recognised by Sport NI.
  • A charitable trust that delivers or enables sport and/or physical activity as your primary activity. Sports and activities must be recognised by Sport NI.
  • Your sports club, community group or charitable trust is based in Northern Ireland, and benefits people living in Northern Ireland.

To ensure a fair distribution of funding by sport or geographical area, Sport Northern Ireland reserves the right to apply a ‘cap’ within the programme.  Applications impacted by a ‘cap’ will be deferred to future investment rounds, subject to eligibility criteria and funding being made available. 

Pledge Criteria

Sports clubs and community groups can propose a project between £1,000 (minimum) and £50,000 (maximum) in value. Sport NI will make a 65% contribution to your crowdfunding campaign, while the remaining 35% must be raised by your “crowd.”

If your club/community group is in an area of high social need, you may be eligible for an enhanced 75% contribution from Sport NI.

Note – Sport NI reserve the right to vary the pledge criteria; projects will be notified if their pledge criteria will vary from the stated terms above. Before completing your application, you will need to read the full Eligibility and Pledge Criteria as detailed in the programme guidance document on our website. Funded projects will be required to agree to the terms and conditions of award.
