Sport Northern Ireland works in partnership with a range of other agencies and organisations to promote outdoor recreation that is sustainable and responsible and as such has adopted and is signed up to the principles of Leave No Trace Ireland
In 1999 Sport Northern Ireland was instrumental in establishing Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland (ORNI) to develop, manage and promote a wide range of outdoor recreation opportunities for both local people and visitors alike. ORNI has built a up a very strong reputation as a very effective delivery body with many significant achievements over the past 13 years. Sport Northern Ireland also supports and works in partnership with a wide range of national Governing Bodies of Sport that use the natural environment to support sustained and increased participation. However, the principles of shared usage and the building of positive relationships between users, landowners and managers underpins this work.
