Sport Northern Ireland and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL) are pleased to continue to promote ‘Adventuremark’ as a suitable adventure activity accreditation scheme for activity providers in Northern Ireland in lieu of statutory licensing under the Activity Centres (Young Persons’ Safety) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.
Adventuremark is a non-statutory safety scheme developed by the Adventure Activity Industry Advisory Committee (AAIAC) for providers of adventurous activities at the request of the Department for Education in Westminster. AAIAC is an industry representative body and was formerly an advisory committee for the Health and Safety Executive. The scheme is operated on behalf of AAIAC by Adventure Activity Associates Ltd (3As).
Adventuremark is a UK wide accreditation scheme that inspects activity providers to ensure that the management, operating systems and personnel are appropriate to the scale and nature of adventurous provision and its intended target population.
