Outdoor Recreation is an important element within the sport industry in Northern Ireland and is closely associated with grassroots participation, tourism and family activity. The study focused on those activities that make use of the natural environment and do not require a dedicated pitch or course to enable participation.
Adventure Activity Associates Ltd. were appointed by Sport Northern Ireland to construct and undertake a survey which would review the scale and nature of the current provision of adventure activities in Northern Ireland and determine the level and nature of recording of incident occurrence.
The Conference set out to explore issues around the value and importance of angling in Northern Ireland, but also how participation in the sport can be increased through strategic developments over the next 10 years.
