Your School Your Club is an initiative to help promote community use of school sports facilities. The opening of the school sports estate to community and club use will have a major impact on the provision of sports facilities throughout Northern Ireland.

Your School Your Club seeks to develop strategic partnerships in order to revitalise existing sports facilities or to develop new/additional provision. The Your School Your Club Steering Group is governed by the Department for Communities (DfC); current membership includes DfC, Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), District Councils, Department for Education (DE), Education Authority (EA) and Sport Northern Ireland.

Rathfriland High School

The project at Rathfriland High School was to upgrade the current tennis provision. As part of this Expression of Interest Rathfriland High School partnered with Rathfriland Tennis Club who will be the anchor tenant at the facility.

Rathfriland High School are already committed to opening their school sport provision outside of core school hours. The school currently have a service level agreement with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council to hire out their 88m x 53m 3g synthetic soccer pitch that local sports club’s avail of throughout the year.

Our Lady Grammar School

The project at Our Lady’s Grammar School Newry was for the creation of a new 36m x 36m x 9.5m double skin tennis bubble that contained two synthetic tennis courts and an access ramp from Newry Leisure Centre. This project was in partnership with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council (NMDDC).

NMDDC partnered with Our Lady’s Grammar School to enhance their tennis provision at the school. The original four tennis courts were beyond repair and therefore this facility was not able to accommodate Tennis.

St Mary's Primary School

The project at St Mary’s Primary School Maghera was to upgrade their natural turf training pitch to a 65m x 35m 3g synthetic surface with floodlights and fencing.

The project was driven by the schools already well-established links with their local GAA club and as a result they provided partnership funding for the project. As an anchor tenant for this facility, it would be guaranteed continued use by their youth teams.
